Focus and Scope

The URJ-UCCS publishes high quality research and creative works produced by undergraduate students across the University of Colorado at Colorado campus. Typical submissions include, but are not limited to, research papers, undergraduate theses, informal proposals, and longer creative writing. The URJ-UCCS is an interdisciplinary journal and is meant to represent all areas of research found at the university. All works are published by a UCCS undergraduate or in conjunction with a UCCS undergraduate research program. Undergraduate and faculty research collaborations are also welcomed.

The URJ-UCCS is published by the Kraemer Family Library with the support of the University of Colorado at Colorado. The URJ-UCCS is an excellent example of both the Kraemer Family Library and the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs' commitment to assisting student success by promoting student works in the journal. The URJ-UCCS is a completely online, open access journal that also shares excellent undergraduate research on campus and with the boarder community.

Peer Review Process

Not every work that is submitted to URJ will be published. The URJ publishes only high quality undergraduate research, but currently does not have a strict review process. URJ strongly recommends undergraduates to have a faculty member review their work prior to submitting to the journal. It is not required, but will facilitate the publishing process.

Publisher Responsibilities
The publishers do read over works to verify citation styles when necessary, but are not editors. The publishers merely reformat your work to a more professional look prior to publishing.

Citation Styles
As the journal is multidisciplinary, no one style guide is reinforced. Use the citation format and style guide used in your discipline. If you are uncertain of your citation format, please use the MLA citation style referring to the MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers, 7th edition. This guide is available in the Kraemer Family Library.

Acceptance
Authors will be notified of their acceptance/non-acceptance via email. Due to the irregular publishing schedule, works may be accepted but not published right away. Authors will be notified when their works will be published.

Publication Frequency

This journal is published on an irregular basis depending on the number of high quality submissions. Special issues are also published on an irregular basis.

If a work is accepted, the author will be notified with the estimated date the work will be published.

Open Access Policy

URJ is a completely open access journal meaning that any work published in the journal is made freely available to anyone with access to the Web.

For authors, the URJ uses the Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 3.0 United States License where you agree to publish your work as open access, but retain the rights over the work and does not permit anyone to use your work for a monetary profit.
